Without saying a word

It’s amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word, you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don’t say a thing

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in you eye sayin’ you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me whenever I fall
You say it best…when you say nothing at all

  1. It’s a beautiful sentiment, and it does work well in face to face situations. But it sucks on a blog.

Thanks for the temp statistical workup. If you’d said ‘nothing at all’ we’d have been much the poorer for it.

    • Clem you wild man.

The astute observer will also note that a large part of the world would not have been aware of the Illinois ketchup bottle water tower without me. 🙂

  2. A large part of the world? How big a following does this blog have??

Mud Hens having a tough time of it this season. They did take a double header from the Clippers (In Columbus no less!) – so the season hasn’t been a total disaster 🙂

On the BIG stage the Cardinals are doing just fine. Now if the Orioles could get their heads out of a dark place…

    • I’m including the throng of followers in the Pacific and Indian Oceans in that.

The ol’ Mud Ducks are well named this year. I always love watching an outfielder make a diving catch and then slide like a kid at the water park…

And just what the hell is the Cardinals’ secret btw? They reload every few years and just keep winning anyway.

  3. Would love to suggest its the great fans. The St Louis fandom is pretty remarkable, but obviously we can’t swing at a slider or chase down a line drive in the gap. The Cardinal farm program is top notch, and has been for as long as I have any knowledge of it. I think the talent evaluation folk are pretty good at their jobs as well.

The recent stink about raiding the Astros’ computer system is an unpleasant thing. Was home recently and found it interesting to hear all the various opinions about it. Didn’t matter who you spoke to, nearly everyone had some thoughts on the subject.

You can look at the league leaders in all the various stat categories and will rarely find any of the Cardinal lineup. No single player having a stellar year at this point. But as a team they are lighting it up. And it is a team sport after all.

    • Exactly. Other than the Giants, I know of no current team that emphasizes “team” like the Cards (the Royals did a pretty good job of it too last year). Very much agree with you on the talent evaluation aspect as well–that’s how they know they can let guys like Freese and others go and still compete.

Have at it
